In October 2017 we were informed that TenneT had awarded us the contract to build the Borssele onshore substation of TenneT TSO.
This is the substation where the lines from the Borssele Alpha and Beta offshore wind farms that are yet to be built will be connected to the existing 380kV high-voltage grid. This requires a significant expansion of the present Borssele substation. Sales Director Jan Willem Kijlstra said: ‘We are delighted to have secured this major order. It underscores yet again our position as a leading partner for offshore wind energy projects.’ Joulz is also closely involved in the construction of the Borssele Alpha and Beta platforms as a subcontractor of HSM.
Start of preparations
Tender manager Kees den Besten said: ‘Our work for this project consists of delivering around 600 tons of steelwork, installing the primary components on the steelwork and buildings, supplying the secondary and tertiary installations and delivering everything ready for service. The project is special because the civil engineering work is already underway and because TenneT did the engineering. The outdoor work on the Borssele onshore substation will start on 1 June 2018. We will take full advantage of the coming months to perform preparatory work such as selecting subcontractors and suppliers.’
